The one and only.......Karen Bossom

We asked Karen for a few words and as I am sure most of you already know….. Karen doesn’t know how to do a few words.

Karen IS Woodley Netball Club and the continued success of the juniors is all down to her. Don’t get me wrong she has had lots of help along the way, because one of her amazing talents is managing to coerce people into doing things. That is just one of the many reasons we love her so much!

1st team netball & hockey at school, captain of both. Choose to to go back to netball at 19 as the court was shorter than a hockey pitch & the Inn on the Park (pub) was next door to the netball courts.

Woodley 4th team player, captain again, only selected once into 3rd team at start of season & then found out I was pregnant. Played a few 3rd team games later in my netball playing career, but certainly a much better coach & umpire than player!

Took preliminary umpire award in 80s, did C award in the 90s, EN level 2 coaching in 90s & then SCUK level 2 in the 00s.

Started Woodley Juniors in 1983, when eldest daughter was 10, with 3 other mums; Val, Lynne & Pat (she was mother of 3 boys!)

Went to National Clubs with both my daughters in an U18 team in 2002 when it was played outside & then again, a couple more times with an u13 & u14 squad, which included Helen T our current SR U14 coach & was coached by Elise our U13 White coach.

Equally proud of our participation squads who play in Berkshire junior league & our Performance squads who've made it to national clubs 6 times in recent years, with the icing on the cake becoming U16 National Clubs Winners in 2015.

Still married to Paul, 50 yrs in September surprisingly. He supports my huge commitment to Woodley netball; most of the time! So proud of my 2 girls, still playing better netball than I ever did, both qualified umpires & brilliant, committed level 2 coaches very much involved in their local clubs.
